Who operates it

Established on 1 April 1985, the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) is a provincial Crown corporation responsible for managing and conducting lottery, casino and other gaming activities for British Columbia. Its headquarters are located at 74 West Seymour Street, Kamloops, BC, V2C 1E2, Canada.

The lottery runs nationally, with the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation (ILC) coordinating draw dates, winning numbers and prize categories across participating provinces. Additional BCLC rules apply in B.C. alongside the national conditions; in the event of a conflict, the ILC conditions govern.

The legal basis

British Columbia's Gaming Control Act governs gaming in the province. BCLC manages the games, while the Independent Gambling Control Office (IGCO) provides regulatory oversight. Only B.C. residents aged 19 or older who are in the province may participate.

Where the money goes

Revenue remaining after costs from lotteries and gaming in B.C. is returned to the province, supporting health care, public services and local programs. Eligible charitable and community organizations also receive support. In this model, provincial gaming proceeds benefit British Columbia.
